Piano transport for ‘Play Me I’m Yours’
Piano Moves was proud to be the official carrier of pianos for the innovative ‘Play Me, I’m Yours‘ artwork by Luke Jerram when it was in Melbourne.
The artwork is currently touring internationally.
“Located in public parks, bus shelters and train stations, markets and even on ferries the pianos are available for any member of the public to play and enjoy. Who plays them and how long they remain on the streets is up to each community. Many pianos are personalised and decorated by artists or the local community. By creating a place of exchange Play Me, I’m Yours invites the public to engage with, activate and take ownership of their urban environment.”
Arts Centre Melbourne presented Play Me, I’m Yours Melbourne from 9 – 27 January 2014 as part of the Betty Amsden Participation Program.
The pianos were decorated by local community artists, and appeared in public spaces at the Arts Centre Melbourne, the Melbourne CBD and in surrounding suburbs. In total, 24 street pianos were available for anyone to play and enjoy. A souvenir map shows the locations. Plus, there are still two street pianos available to play at the Arts Centre Melbourne: one in the Theatres Foyer and the other downstairs in Car Park.
