Melbourne play me i'm yours

Play me, I’m Yours. Melbourne 2018.

Piano Moves are once again proud to be a Major Sponsor of the ‘Play Me, I’m Yours’, Melbourne 2018.

Play me, I’m yours is a concept developed in 2008, and has been touring cities internationally since. Located on streets, in public parks, markets and train stations the pianos are available for everyone to play and enjoy. Play Me, I’m Yours invites the public to engage with, activate and take ownership of their urban environment, and to share their love of music and the visual arts. Decorated by local artists and community groups, the street pianos create a place for exchange and an opportunity for people to connect.

More than 1850 pianos have been installed in over 55 cities across the globe, from London to New York, bearing the simple invitation to Play Me, I’m Yours. The project has reached more than ten million people worldwide.

Arts Centre Melbourne presented Play Me, I’m Yours from Friday 19 January – Sunday 4 February 2018, as part of the Betty Amsden Participation Program, and Piano Moves are proud to be part of the project by getting the pianos to where they needed to be. In total, 24 street pianos were available for anyone to play and enjoy. A souvenir map shows the locations. Plus, there are still two street pianos available to play at the Arts Centre Melbourne: one in the Theatres Foyer and the other downstairs in Car Park.

They were decorated by community groups from all over Melbourne and led by artists from The Blender Studios.

Five of the original pianos are still available to play for the next few months, whilst the rest have been donated to the community groups that decorated them and are no longer available. The locations of the remaining pianos can be seen at https://streetpianos.com/melbourne2018/
